Wharton-Penn Club of Israel

Newsletter 2003

Dear Friend of the Wharton-Penn Club of Israel;

In this brief note we would like to report to you on the progress that the Wharton-Penn club of Israel has made this year.

This year we continued our tradition of quarterly events and we held several alumni events such as: a panel on the state of affairs of the Investment Banking industry in Israel; a presentation by President Avishai Braverman from Ben Gurion University on the current crisis as an opportunity for change; a presentation of Stanley P. Gold from Shamrock Holdings on the changes required in the Israeli economy and a young professional networking event.

We also held our first ever Gala Dinner with the American Ambassador as our keynote speaker. During the Gala Dinner we also launched our Leadership Formation Award that was awarded to IDF’s Atidim program.  This award is meant to salute a project or individuals that are grooming the leaders of tomorrow.

This year also marked the first time that several of our alumni participated in the Wharton activities worldwide.  Some of us have taken part in the first Wharton-INSEAD conference in Paris and others attended the Hunstman Hall inauguration.

Last but not least, a special effort went into augmenting the Wharton brand name in Israel and increasing the applicant pool.  Hundreds of young talented Israelis have attended an informational session for incoming students that was organized by Assaf Harel.   A record number of 14 applicants were admitted and we expect at least 9 of them to start their journey into the Wharton community this coming September. We wish them all the success in their studies at Wharton and hope to see them joining our community in the not too far distance.

As you can see from the above lines, our small community continues to grow in numbers and in its scope of activities.

Please see this note as an open invitation to take an even larger role in our community.

With Respect and Dedication,

Gideon Tolskowsky Elli Streit Isaac (Itzik) Devash
